For Candidates Eligible for Graduation in the August 2026 Commencement (2025 Academic Year, Fall Graduation Review)

Students who are scheduled for the 2025 Academic Year Fall Graduation Review (August 2026 Graduation) and wish to apply for either Graduation Deferment or Postponement of Bachelor's Degree Conferral are advised to review the information below and submit their application within the designated application period.

1. Application Period

July 20 (Mon), 2026, 10:00 AM – July 22 (Wed), 2026, 3:00 PM (KST)

Late applications will not be accepted.

2. Eligibility

A. Graduation Deferment

Eligible Applicants

Current students who have satisfied the graduation or completion requirements and meet one of the following conditions:

  • Have declared a double major, minor, or teacher certification program but need to complete additional coursework to fulfill the remaining requirements.
  • Participated in an overseas exchange program during the 2026 Spring Semester.
    • Students returning from an exchange program must apply for Graduation Deferment. Otherwise, if they graduate or complete their studies without deferment, exchange credits cannot be recognized.

Not Eligible

  • Students who have not fulfilled the graduation or completion requirements.
  • Students who have not declared a double major, minor, or teacher certification.
  • Early graduation applicants.
  • Students enrolled in the Bachelor's–Master's Combined Program.
  • Students whose graduation requirements are incomplete due to insufficient credits, graduation certification requirements, thesis requirements, ABEEK accreditation requirements, or any other graduation requirement.

How to Apply

ON Kookmin Portal → Graduation Information → Apply for Graduation Deferment

B. Postponement of Bachelor's Degree Conferral

Eligible Applicants

Students (including both enrolled students and those with completion status) who have fulfilled all graduation requirements and are eligible for graduation.

Not Eligible

  • Students who completed the undergraduate program more than two years ago.
  • Students who have not completed all graduation requirements.

How to Apply

ON Kookmin Portal → Graduation Information → Apply for Postponement of Bachelor's Degree Conferral

3. Important Notes

A. Graduation Deferment

  • Students who have fulfilled graduation requirements but have not completed their declared double major, minor, or teacher certification must apply for Graduation Deferment. Otherwise, they will graduate with only the completed degree requirements.
  • Students who have met completion requirements but failed graduation certification requirements (such as graduation thesis, English proficiency requirement, departmental certification, or ABEEK portfolio) will be classified as completed students if they do not apply for Graduation Deferment. Completed students cannot subsequently complete additional coursework for a double major, minor, or teacher certification.
  • Students who have not met graduation requirements due to insufficient credits or other graduation requirements are not eligible for Graduation Deferment.
  • Graduation Deferment and Postponement of Bachelor's Degree Conferral cannot be applied for simultaneously.
  • Applications cannot be submitted after the application period, and approved applications cannot be canceled.
  • Students who were granted Graduation Deferment for the 2026 Spring Semester and wish to continue deferring graduation must submit a new application. (Each approval is valid for one semester only.)
  • Students approved for Graduation Deferment and enrolled as extended-semester students in Fall 2026 must register for at least one credit. Failure to register will result in a leave of absence, making them ineligible for graduation review during that semester.
  • Information regarding course registration, tuition payment, leave of absence, and other academic procedures for approved applicants will be announced separately (scheduled for August 2026).
  • Students approved for Graduation Deferment who intend to graduate in Fall 2026 must complete course registration and tuition payment. Students who do not register, do not pay tuition, or take a leave of absence voluntarily will not be eligible to graduate in February 2027. Graduation review will only be possible after completing at least one additional registered semester.

B. Postponement of Bachelor's Degree Conferral

  • Applications cannot be canceled after approval.
  • Approved applicants will hold completion status and therefore cannot:
    • register for courses,
    • change academic status,
    • apply for or change a major, double major, or minor,
    • request changes to course classification.
  • Students wishing to continue postponing degree conferral must submit an application every semester. If no application is submitted for the following semester, the degree will automatically be conferred on the scheduled graduation date.
  • The postponement period is limited to two years. Once this period expires, no further postponement is allowed, and the degree will automatically be conferred.
