Q. What happens if I attend the University without paying tuition?

A. For currently enrolled students, advancement to the next academic year occurs when the semester begins, regardless of tuition payment status. A certificate of enrollment can also be issued, and the student’s enrolled status will be maintained for up to 30 days after the semester begins.

However, the student may be dismissed for nonpayment after 30 days. Students must therefore pay tuition during the designated payment period or apply for a leave within 30 days from the first day of the semester.

Q. I would like to take a leave after paying my tuition.

A. Tuition paid before taking a leave will be refunded according to the application date. Students must pay the full tuition amount when they return to the University.

※ A full refund will be provided if the leave application is submitted within 30 days from the first day of the semester.
※ After 30 days, 2/3 of the tuition will be refunded if the application is submitted within 60 days, and 1/2 will be refunded if submitted within 90 days.
※ The refund will be deposited into the bank account registered in ON Kookmin Portal and will take approximately three weeks to process.
※ General and medical leave applications cannot be submitted more than 90 days after the first day of the semester.

Q. I would like to take a leave in connection with an Industrial Human Resources Corporation national technical qualification examination.

A. For currently enrolled students, advancement to the next academic year occurs when the semester begins, regardless of tuition payment status. A certificate of enrollment can also be issued.

Students are therefore advised to obtain a certificate confirming fourth-year enrollment after the semester begins, submit it to the relevant organization, and apply for a leave within 30 days from the first day of the semester.

Q. I would like to extend my leave. Do I need to apply for reinstatement first and then apply for another leave?

A. No. You do not need to apply for reinstatement.

Students may take a leave for a total of up to eight semesters while enrolled. A leave may be requested for either one or two semesters at a time.

When the approved leave period ends, simply submit another leave application. The leave may be extended as long as the total leave period does not exceed eight semesters.

Q. I applied for reinstatement and now want to take another leave, but the system does not allow me to apply. What should I do?

A. Only one reinstatement or leave application may be processed during a single semester. Therefore, the system will not allow another application.

If you wish to take a leave after applying for reinstatement, please contact the Academic Affairs Team at 02-910-4037. The team will assist you with the leave application.

Q. If I apply for a leave of one year or longer, must I remain on leave for the entire approved period?

A. No. You may apply for reinstatement before the approved leave period ends.

Even if a leave was initially approved for one year or longer, you are not required to remain on leave for the entire period. You may apply for reinstatement whenever you wish to return.

Q. How do I apply for a medical leave of absence?

A. To apply for a medical leave, you must submit a medical certificate issued by a hospital-level medical institution, not a clinic, stating that at least two months of treatment are required.

At least 30 days of the treatment period must fall after the first day of the semester, i.e., March 1 for the first semester or September 1 for the second semester.

Students are advised to obtain the medical certificate on or after February 1 for the first semester or August 1 for the second semester.

Q. I cannot enter my military enlistment date because the date has already passed. What should I do?

A. If you apply for a military leave after your enlistment date, enter the application date as the enlistment date. The Academic Affairs Team will check the Notice of Enlistment and correct the date.

Q. My military enlistment date falls in the middle of the semester. How should I apply for a leave of absence?

A. If you do not plan to attend the University during that semester, first apply for a general leave during the designated leave application period.

Beginning one month before your enlistment date, submit a military leave application with your Notice of Enlistment attached. In this case, the previously recorded general leave will be canceled and will not count toward the number of semesters of leave used.
